IMG 3641The 4th Annual Samoa Ne’i Galo 2017 will culminate the two day celebrations of Samoa’s 55th Anniversary of Independence on the 2nd of June this year.

Organised by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture, this vibrant and proud display of Samoan performing arts, has become an iconic event in Samoa’s social calendar in recent years.

An initiative of Government, the Samoa Ne’i Galo concept was developed in 2014 to promote our traditional arts as part of our education programme in Samoa. Its primary objectives promote the practice and revival of our traditional arts, as essential tools for the safeguarding and transmitting of various cultural practices to our young and future generations. It is also a platform for our Colleges to collectively engage in a cultural competition that enhances students’ awareness, respect and understanding of our culture and traditions.

The four (4) performance categories for this year are the Ma’ulu’ulu, Sāsā, Lauga (Samoan Speech) and a Singing Competition highlighting the story telling of our legends and monologues.

IMG 3791The 7 Colleges competing this year are Vaimauga, Avele, Leifiifi, Safata, Faleata, Aleipata and Sagaga.

The 4th Annual Samoa Ne’i Galo 2017 will be held on the 2nd June 2017 from 9am onwards infront of the FMFMII Government Building Matagialalua.

MESC wishes to thank SBCTV1 and SSAB who have once again stepped forward to be this year’s Major Sponsors for this event. All the support of many Associate Sponsors will be duly acknowledged.
