The Government of Japan has been providing funds to many local government schools under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) since 1991, which has benefitted many Government schools. One of its recent recipients is the Laumoliafi Primary School at Avao Savaii. The project was funded at a total of WST283, 760.62 to reconstruct the main school building with 8 classrooms, a staff room and a library.

The Handover Ceremony was held on Friday 06th April 2018, which members of the Government including Prime Minister Tuilaepa witnessed the opening of the newly reconstructed school building. He also presented the keynote address while the Minister of Finance, Afioga Sili Epa Tuioti was honored to cut the ribbon.

H.E Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Samoa Maugaoleatuolo Shinya Aoki also expressed his congratulations to everyone who supported the project up to its completion with the hope that students and teachers of Laumoliafi Primary School will treat the facilities with proper care for many generations to utilise.

Laumoliafi PS has a roll of 190 students with 7 teachers.
